thanks, snap and waltsgirl. I had a hard time with the hdr effect, for some reason, i can just never make it look like i think it should. i actually used photomatix for the initial blending, then used photoshop to create another layer that i tweaked, then blended with the original layer. still not sure its hdr-ish enough for me, but i guess it works!

When I first saw that first shot it looked like one of those miniature models. One of those out of a Christmas scene. I gotta say that first one is my favorite.
