running through to revisit family gravesites i noticed this memorial. can't believe i hadn't noticed before.

it was erected for Benjamin Grenup (http://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/19795) who was run over by a fire truck in 1856.

Good Lord! I don't know if I would want to be memorialized with a cart running over me. That has to be one of the more interesting memorials I've ever seen.

If you get by the National Fire Academy they have some I believe. It's in your neck of the woods Jon.

It's our awful sense of street humor but I'm laughing at that monument. The guy in the back with his arms raised is killing me. "What happened to Ben?" "Oh crap we ran over him." I have to show the guys at work this one.

A cool monument, for sure, but I have to agree with Fred ... the depiction and the fella all 'Hey it wasn't my fault' is a bit funny. Morbid, but funny!
