Murdered on big rock? I can honestly say I have not seen one like that. Great and interesting shots. Looks like an interesting cemetery.

Very interesting shots. I have only seen one other stone where a person had "murdered" on it. From what I have heard about gravestone carvings...back in the day, they told it how it was.

If this is the right guy who was murdered at Big Rock, it looks like his story is one of losing his religion.......

That's quite a swing from cleric to barkeeper! Wonder who he wronged or at least made mad enough to kill him...sounds like he was on a downward spiral. What sources do you use for your genealogy research?

I use different online sources like ancestry.com and rootsweb.com among others.

Ancestry has actual scans of historical documents like census records. Rootsweb, it's sister site, is more for posting your research and sharing information.

I joined Ancestry a number of years ago and did some research on my family. You are getting info I don't think they had back then. Maybe it's time to look at it again.
