This is what is left of the town of Coopers Falls. The origins date back to 1864
This little blub is about it.
"In 1864, Thomas Cooper and his wife, Emma arrived from the train in Barrie. From there they proceeded to make their way by boat to Washago. There they set off into the bush to find a location to build their home.
Emma and Thomas Cooper built a house and general store half a mile from a waterfall on the Black River. Many years later, in 1878 the first post office opened with the name Cooper’s Falls.
The village soon added a general store, blacksmith and cheese factory. A log schoolhouse was built in 1874 followed by two churches. The Methodist church was built in 1894 and the Anglican church was built approximately 1884."
It truly is like taking a step back in time, but I will keep all the photos in this thread instead of making 2. :)
One of the houses. I could not get in, and it looks like this house was one of the last to be abandoned.

The house was an antique paradise, and these two lamps I found on the back of one of the many old sheds/chicken coops.

This is the best shot I could get of the front of this place. It is nestled under some really dark trees, but I did managed to get inside. The back half had collapsed.

Even tho the windows were missing, the curtains still waved in the breeze.

I found this attached to the side of the wall , where it looked like a horse carriage might have been

Im really unsure about this place. At first it looks like an old house, but after getting close, I think somebody had converted it to a storage place later.

A few yards down the road was the abandoned General Store and Postoffice

There was also one of the two remaining gas pumps left there. There was no way in, but one of the remaining towns people still lives in an old house near this, at the edge of town. There was a sign stating the Coopers.

The gem of the town is the old blacksmith shop across the road It is still being used as a repair place or something, but the building sits as it did for many years

The door was open, and I took a few steps inside to find this wall. There is another pic I will add later.
