I wrote about this session about a month ago here. (http://around395.blogspot.com/2008/09/heroes.html) I still can't force myself to stay on top of that blog thing :dunno:
Anyways, these are my favorites from the session. All of the images were shot with with speedlites and a mixed bag of modifiers.

I love the processing on this series. And I visited your blog to find "the rest of the story." These will make a great charity calendar!
Love the last in the series. Great POV.

Wait until you see me in my boxers standing on the tailboard of an engine. I'm just waiting to send them out at Christmas.

Dude! These are amazing. You kicked booty with the speeds! Are you using Canons or others with a different kind of trigger? I have a 580 and two 430s that I try to use with Canon's wireless, but have a little trouble with the line of sight. Haven't figured out the ratios either.
These just reinforce my belief that you are a photo powerhouse!

Thanks Lincoln.
I have 2 430's but I only use those for weddings and candid portraits. On camera flash. For all my off camera strobist stuff, I have 4 Nikon SB-28's that I use with cheap Cactus trigger/receivers.
The Cactus remotes are cheap but they work much better than the ST-E2. A lot of my outdoor stuff is done in bright sunlight and the Cactus setup works ok. Again, only ok.
Of course, by using Nikon speeds, I have to do everything in manual. No metering or eTTL. It takes a little getting used to...and you can't be afraid to chimp and you have to read your histogram.

Thanks Jackie :)
I'm so glad people like that shot...cause I worked for it!
I climbed up that ladder with my camera in one hand and a speedlite in the other. I was about 15-18 feet off the ground, had to turn myself around, wedge my feet into the cage portion you see, lean forward, and take the pictures with one hand while aiming the light with the other...and it was about 125F in that little room :jonmikal:
I had a hard time climbing back down because my hands were so sweaty. But I made it safe and sound without dropping anything. Just glad that the lights on the ground were actually set up correctly the first time
