I attended a small but moving Remembrance Day ceremony in Toronto held at Fort York (the main ceremony being the one held at City Hall). Re-enactors were dressed as soldiers from the 1800s, and World War 1. Veterans of World War 2, and current servicepersons, were also in attendance. As part of the ceremony the poem In Flanders Field (written by WW1 Canadian soldier John McCrae) was read aloud: this is a traditional part of Canadian Remembrance Day ceremonies.

Here are some of the pictures I took. The conditions weren’t the greatest: it was raining for part of the ceremony, and the spectators (myself included) were outside of the walls of the old military ceremony while the participants were inside - so I had to shoot over either a wall or a hedge.

well done Anti, awesome series, and it really tells the story of your day. My dad and uncle were ww2 vets, and I honor them every year in my heart for what they did for our country.

I bet it was really cool to see all this! Beautiful captures Anty! I love to watch and talk to veterans... they tell such fascinating stories that can really humble a person. You captured the day very well!

Great shots Jeanne. You make me wish I was feeling better and had made the trip down. Looks like it was a fantastic ceremony to attend.

Super job covering the event. My dad was a D-day WW2 vet.

Only one question. Where are the bagpipes?

The piper was there, but I didn't get a good shot of him. This is a pic taken as the participants marched into the military cemetery.

Wow, your father's a D-day vet! Does he talk of his experiences? Or is he one who doesn't speak of it. The former, I hope.
