I agree! ^^^...do you suppose the tree was planted back in 1800 too? The roots also make this picture...almost creepy!

Whoa! This is one very cool shot! Awesome tones, and such an old marker, yet still legible. What a find. You can just imagine that there was once a tiny tree several feet away from the grave, giving it shade, and now it has overrrun it like that.

a story unto itself... makes me wonder if the tree grew into the body, and does the person now live in the tree...if you chopped at it, would sap or blood pour out, or during a storm, does the tree sound like its mourning..?
are they now interlinked? and when one lives the other is dormant..?

Nice find Jon. I thought the same as April did. All the "what ifs"

Another couple of centuries and that tree is going to swallow that stone. Cool find!

Hi JM...
Love the play of light on the headstone, really picks out the text and gives them depth. Interesting placeto find a headstone though, amongst the roots, you would have thought someone might have moved that sapling way back unless this was intentional...Makes you think does'nt it?
However, this grave appears to be much older than the 1800's as there is an 'and' to be found just breaking the surface, how old is the graveyard Jon?
Regards,
Andrew
