Harriers are fascinating to watch - I love it when they come to the Toronto Airshow. You were lucky to get so close to them, and you got some killer shots. ~~~Why are they standing them down?

Takes the old chap back - as a schoolboy witnessed the first flights of the Flying Bedstead at Dunsfold - Hawker's test site. Still remember being amazed and the noise of a Hunter engine in a ground test bed. RAF days had 831 Squadron RN at RAF Watton and as their toothwright they liked to get their own back so flew me down to your end for lunch and deck landed me on what seemed like a floating tennis court on the back. Never forgave them! Lovely set of pictures - thanks for sharing.

They got rid of them because they are old and a bit pricey to maintain. Problem is that now the Royal Navy have no fighters fitted with radar, at least until the F35 is ready, about 2012 if all goes well
