A photo taken with the little Powershot. I had forgotten all about it but found it again by chance. I think I quite like it for being taken with the the "Little Canon":

some of the best pics i've seen were from a p&s :thumbsup:
so what's this tower all about. looks like an observation deck or restaurant on the upper levels.

From what I learned through my Portsmouth friend, this structure was planned to celebrate the turn of the millenium, was finally finished in 2002 (doh!), and still doesn't work all right, the "panorama lift" outside the building still does not work, not even in 2006. It is a lookout tower (restaurant? I don't know) in the shape of a mast and spinnaker sail, and I am sure you get a wonderful look over to the Isle of Wight ... but the crowds were too big and the lines too long for me to go up there. It has a glass bottom too, I took photos of people standing (lying down!) on that glass bottom from below at the full 300mm ;) only... preferably women in skirts, heehee. (Nothing to be seen!)
