Toronto Meetup Oct. 29, 2006

Several photographers from Toronto and the surrounding area got together yesterday. Despite high winds and near freezing temperatures, we managed to have a lot of fun and take lots of pictures. Here are some I took (more to come, by the way. And I'm sure Chiller and Raymond Barlow will add to this thread).

This gentleman was playing a one-stringed instrument of some kind, for money. He didn't mind all of us taking his picture. Which was a refreshing change from others we met as we walked through the Chinatown area.

The blue haired man was listening to a concert on a streetcorner in Kensington Market. And then some clown came walking down the street. There were quite a few odd people 'oot and aboot' on the streets yesterday...they must've been out all night at Halloween parties.

What a awesome looking bunch, but I think I'd be leary of that guy in the alley! I think I would have went the other way!

Seems these small garage bands were setting up in store fronts. This guy looks like he is singing Hotel California, but actually I had no idea what he was singing.

Just great Antartican, so glad you posted. The guy in the first picture looks pretty cool, a character I bet. Ya make me miss T.O., China town is such an interesting area. Chiller man, Anti got such a good shot of ya.

Good series of street shots there chiller, the last two are awesome. Ya really captured the shop keeper well, man those eyes say everything, your one brave dude taking his picture.:thumbsup: On second thought the picture of you by Anti, I wouldn't mess with ya either:D

I just heard part of what he said, but it was reported to me by the others that it was something along the lines of 'the problem with digital photographers is that they're always chimping'. I later saw him driving away and he waved at us, so perhaps he thought the comment was funny. And I don't think any of us were actually reviewing our shots at the time he made it...I, for one, was taking a picture, so it was an odd comment to begin with.

(I stand to be corrected by anyone who heard the full comment)

I only heard a bit of what he said too. All I heard was the "chimping" part, but did not pay too much attention to him. I know he was loaded with gear. Those waist pouches were probably just for show and were empty:lol:

This thread is great, I feel like I just took a mini holiday:clap: Thanks for sharing your experinces, I needed that. I am surprised at the number of really good images taken in such a short time.

You guy and gals really should make it up to Toronto someday. The differences in Canada and the U.S.A is somewhat subtle but enough to make it worthwhile. If you meet up in Montreal, that would be a totally different experience than what you are use too.
