A couple of shots I got when I was in Chile last year.

First one is a guard at the capital in Santiago. Second is a group of recruits, sorry for the blown out gloves.

Unlike other South American or Central American countries, the police in Chile pride themselves on honesty and are very trustworthy. If you ever get lost and find a policeman, he/she will not let you out of their sight until they Know you are in safe hands.

I thought at first that the fella in the first shot was just relaxing a little, but I see by the poses in the second that the pose must be a particular stance that they use ...

Do you know the significance of the different colored uniforms?

Anicole, all the gate guards at the capital wear white. The other uniform you see on the recruits is the standard work uniform. I'll have to check to see if I have any photos of female police or the really fancy officer uniforms.

Here are a couple of tourist shots of capital guards. The guy all decked out is a police commander, Sgt., in charge of the detail. The female was guarding one of the inside doors. They are very friendly and most speak english. They did let me stumble and stammer in Spanish before telling me.

Great shots! I have been to Santiago 3 times and really enjoyed it. These shots are outside the Presidential Palace (La Moneda), correct?
