a bug- cicada actually

this guy was just hanging around my deck a few months ago, and i took his pic... he had just come out of his shell..( is that like coming out of the closet??) and he was drying off before heading out for the rest of his life..
which was over rated, since the next morning, i found these wings right around where he had been....:D sucks to be a cicada at my house....

So, I'm not up on my entimology ... is the brown thing his former shell? Is that what he came out of? Looks a little cramped ... I can see why he'd upgrade to the luminescent model ...

you know the old, if it looks too good to be true it probably is?? well.. he found it out the hard way... the modern look got him killed...

but yes, thats his shell...havent you seen them around?? they make that loud noise when its hot as west heck..and you hear the droning sound..? that is them... this little sucker probably would have been the top tenor of the bunch, now , he is just an after thought...
